where:
AccumDist = ((Close-Low)–(High-Close))/(High-Low)*Volume
is the accumulation/distribution value.
Discussion
The Chaikin Volume Accumulation Percent indicator (CVAP) is the average of the accumulation/distribution values over Period most recent bars divided by the average volume over the same period of time. The CVAP is also sometimes called Chaikin Money Flow elsewhere in the literature.
In general, CVAP is a good representation of buying and selling pressure. The market is considered bullish (under accumulation) when CVAP is positive and bearish (under distribution) when CVAP is negative.
See also Chaikin Money Flow Persistency indicator.
